http://www.Financial3dom.netIn the healthcare, financial, or law fields, there is a growing need for those who have transcriptionist experience to work from home. Instead of paying a staff solely to transcribe various recordings of meetings, memos, records and other communication, paying one person to work from home is a great way to reduce overhead costs. Those who transcribe these documents may already have their own equipment, which can lower costs even more. If you want to work in this field, you may need to receive training not only in using specific equipment, but also in the field you want to work in so you will understand the terminology used.
Transcriptionists are used to upload medical records into central databases, transcribe physician's notes for record keeping purposes, transcribe recorded meetings, and for other purposes. If you have a good ear and are able to type quickly, then this career may be something to consider when looking for a new job. If you have experience working in the medical or financial field, then you may not need as much training as someone with little experience. There are many courses available that can train you to become a transcriptionist.
For most transcription, you will need to invest in a computer with Internet, audio equipment that allows you to slow down recordings, and an audio program that accepts different types of audio files. Traditionally, transcription was done using audio cassettes, but with advancements in technology, most recordings are sent over the Internet to save time. Depending on the types of speakers you have, you may need to invest in better audio equipment as well. Learning how to type while listening to people speaking may take some time, but with practice, you will become better at your job.
In order to fulfill all job tasks, you need to be able to transcribe every word you hear. This is important when transcribing notes for patient records. This is why most businesses require that you have some background in their industry before they will hire you. If you decide to take a course, you can choose which industry you want to learn. You will learn terminology, principles, and buzz words commonly used. This will prepare you by helping you become a better listener.
The number of hours you will work depends on the amount of work you receive. Some people work part-time while others work full-time. This work from home position is a little more flexible than others because you will be paid by the workload in most cases, so you can create your own schedule. If you prefer to work in the morning, you can do so. Or you can choose to work in the evening. As long as you meet your deadlines, it's up to you.
Many people who work as transcriptionists do so because they enjoy the flexibility. Those who no longer want to commute to work or those who want to work a certain amount during the day are able to do so and still earn the income they need.
